Hidden Resource Gems at CMU: Printing Edition

By Marissa Pekular

Throughout the semester, you will most likely need to print a hard copy of some paper, project or image. This guide provides instructions on the printing process at CMU and a link to printing station locations across campus. Let this be your one-stop shop for all things printing.

CMU Printing Pointers

  • Each student is allotted a $40 print quota that cannot be carried over into the next semester. You can check your balance and transaction history at the Campus Printing Web Portal.
  • Refunds are not issued for jammed, defective or canceled print jobs.
  • All campus printers offer black and white, letter-size (8.5 x 11) and double-sided (duplex) printing. Scanning, copying, color and 11 x 17 printing are available at select locations. Prices vary.
  • You can print from your mobile device by downloading the printer to your IOD or Android phone.
  • Visit the Printer Status page for real-time printer status updates.

How to Print Without Downloading Software

  1. Visit the Campus Printing Web Portal, and log in using your Andrew ID.
  2. Navigate to the column on the left-hand side of the page, and click “Web Print.”
  3. Select the green box, “Submit a Job.”
  4. Click on “Printer Selection,” and choose your desired printing station.
  5. Type in the desired number of copies. On the same page, select the green box, “Upload Documents.”
  6. Drag or upload the file to print from your device. On the same page, select the green box, “Upload & Complete.”
  7. You will then be redirected to a page, titled, “Jobs Pending Release.” Select “Print” under the “Action” category.
  8. When your document leaves the printing queue, the selected printer will immediately process the request and your document will be ready for pick up. Be aware that no one monitors the printer so be prompt to pick up your document.
