Your Login Experience Just Got Easier

Computing Services recently updated your two-factor authentication (2fa) experience with DUO for all services protected by CMU Web Login (login.cmu.edu). New features include a new look, more authentication options, like Touch ID, and improved “remember me” functionality.

Consider this. On average, CMU community members spend almost 10 seconds authenticating with DUO after logging in to a service with their AndrewID and password. It may be hard to believe, but over the span of a year, that adds up to thousands of hours across the university.

In a recent study, USENIX reported that 30-day “remember me” sessions saved one university approximately 80,000 hours per year by eliminating 70% of 2fa requests during the login process.

With DUO’s new updates, you and every member of the community will save valuable time every day.

During the fall 2023 semester, we’ll migrate other applications, like the Password (Credential) Management Tool and 2fa Self-Service Tool, to the new DUO experience. Until we’re finished, you may continue to see the old prompt when accessing some services.
