How to Request Software

We understand that software needs are constantly changing, especially as new technologies are introduced. If you can't find the software you need in the software catalog and would like to request a review of a title, follow the steps below.

We are committed to helping the CMU community through three software purchase options for individual, group, and full-site licenses. Our service streamlines the acquisition process, making it efficient and accessible to the entire community. We are here for you whether you purchase a new software license, join an existing one, renew, renegotiate, or cancel a license.

Please note that the type of software, the use case, the type of data shared, and the number of users can all impact the review.

1. Prepare 

Gather as much information as possible about the software title and the problem it will solve. Providing detailed information can help speed up the process.

2. Request

Complete the software request form providing the information you gathered. 

3. Review

Your request will be evaluated to assess the use case, similar available titles, and terms and conditions. Someone will follow up with you to set expectations for the timing and next steps.
