Bio

Danielle Wenner is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Associate Director of the Center for Ethics and Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, and an affiliate faculty member at the Center for Bioethics and Health Law at the University of Pittsburgh. She received her Ph.D. in philosophy from Rice University in 2011, completed a clinical ethics fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in 2013, and was the Andrew W. She has published in The American Journal of Bioethics, Developing World Bioethics, the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, and other medical and philosophical venues. Recent research has focused on the ethics and methods of clinical research, with special focus on research conducted in and on low- and middle-income populations, as well as on the impact of inequality and deliberative pathologies on the legitimate functioning of democratic decision-making procedures.

In 2013 Dr. Wenner was appointed as an ethicist to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Blood and Marrow Transplantation Clinical Trials Network Data Safety and Monitoring Board, and in 2014 she joined the Efficacy Trials Working Group of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network.
