Executive Director of Strategic Communication

Bio

In her role as Executive Director of Strategic Communication for Enrollment, Rebecca Choltco leads communication strategy for the Office of Enrollment Management. 

Becky and her team are responsible for planning and executing the division’s communications and content across multiple channels to support recruitment efforts, inform student and family decision-making, build positive relationships across campus, and promote student success. 

With over two decades of broad experience, Becky values collaboration, data-driven communication strategy and creative storytelling. Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon as an assistant director in 2006, she managed communication functions and served as the assistant editor for a variety of publications at the Allegheny County Bar Association. Becky’s passion for storytelling developed as a writer and copy editor for area newspapers including the Tribune-Review, the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat and the Latrobe Bulletin. 

Becky earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Association for Women in Communications, and she serves on Carnegie Mellon’s Web Governance Council. In 2014, Becky was the recipient of the Pat Kleyle Staff Recognition Award in Enrollment Services and was a nominee for the Carnegie Mellon University Andy Award for Outstanding Dedication. 

Becky resides in the Pittsburgh area with her husband Kris and their dogs Rooney and River.
