  Carnegie Mellon University

  Dear Friend,

Summertime may bring to mind rest and relaxation, but we're Carnegie Mellon University.

True to form, "our hearts are in the work." And this July, we're welcoming a new member to the University Advancement leadership team who embodies the spirit of dedication and innovation that makes this place so special.

I'm pleased to introduce you, our alumni, to Andy Shaindlin, the new Associate Vice President of Advancement and Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving.

Jay Price photoAs many of you know, alumnus and dedicated volunteer Jay Price (S'66) served most recently as our Associate Vice President of Advancement and Director of Alumni Relations. As a retired executive from P&G, longtime volunteer and past president of the Alumni Association, Jay brought unbridled passion and deep experience to this role at CMU.

One of his many accomplishments was the creation and launch of the Loyal Scot program, which, in two short years, is bringing even more alumni together on behalf of the university. I know the members of the Alumni Association Board join me in wishing Jay the best in his (second) retirement as we welcome Andy to the team.

Andy Shaindlin photoBringing more than 20 years of experience to his new role at CMU, Andy has worked with alumni at a number of universities, including Brown University, the University of Michigan and the California Institute of Technology. At Caltech, he served as Executive Director of the Alumni Association, and for a time as Acting Assistant Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations.

Andy is a highly sought after international expert on alumni engagement, having published numerous articles, white papers and book chapters on topics related to alumni relations and university advancement, with an emphasis on the role of technology. A 1986 graduate of Brown, Andy also holds a master's degree in education from Claremont Graduate University. He founded alumnifutures.com, the first blog devoted to the profession of alumni relations.

Andy is enthusiastic to meet you, our CMU alumni around the world, to discuss how we can continue to work together to make this the strongest, most valuable alumni network in the world.

Sincerely,
Robbee Baker Kosak
Vice President, University Advancement
