Annual Giving Header

The Carnegie Mellon School of Music might be described as one of Pittsburgh’s, and music’s, best kept secrets. It is undoubtedly one of this nation's finest schools for the training of young musicians. Our alumni populate the great orchestras of this country and the world. They stretch from Pittsburgh to Prague, and well beyond. Clearly, our approach to education is well respected.

But none of this would be possible without your financial support. If you have already made your gift this year, I thank you for your generosity. If you have not, then I encourage you to please give to the School of Music.

The revolution in communications has created a smaller world, and our students must be prepared to venture into that world with the confidence and security that their studies at Carnegie Mellon will serve them well. They must have the faculty, curriculum, facilities and international experience that will make them musical citizens of a global society. We give them everything we can in terms of the essentials they must have, but there is much that goes beyond our budget today. It costs almost twice as much to educate a student as what tuition will provide. Furthermore, we must make it possible for those talented students who cannot afford Carnegie Mellon to come here and enrich the population of students we serve.

The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music is thriving, and our students are being recognized at the very highest levels of achievement, thanks to the generous financial assistance of our alumni and friends.

We know you may have many philanthropic priorities, but please show your support for the School of Music by making a gift today that will help us continue the work we do and that will allow us to pass our tradition to the next generation of Carnegie Mellon students.

Sincerely,
