Bio

Brendan Hart joined the Investment Office of Carnegie Mellon University in 2020 and was promoted to Director, Operations, Risk & Analytics in 2024. In this role, he is responsible for investment accounting, data analytics, risk monitoring, and operational due diligence.

Prior to joining the university, Hart was an assistant controller at Och-Ziff Capital Management (now Sculptor Capital Management), a New York-based, publicly traded alternative asset manager. Over a 9-year career at Och-Ziff, he led the private equity accounting team and served as secretary of the firm’s Commitments Committee (approved all new private investments). Hart began his career in public accounting at RSM US, auditing middle market financial service firms.

Hart earned his B.S. in accounting and finance from The Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. As an undergraduate, he was head manager of the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team and a member of two Big East Championship teams in 2005 and 2006.
