Mourning Dr. Vartan Gregorian

A message from CMU President Farnam Jahanian

Jason Maderer

The following is a statement from Carnegie Mellon University President Farnam Jahanian:

Carnegie Mellon joins our fellow Carnegie organizations in mourning Dr. Vartan Gregorian, president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. After an illustrious career in higher education, Dr. Gregorian led the Carnegie Corporation for more than two decades, stewarding the legacy of Andrew Carnegie by championing education, democracy, world peace and immigration. He was a true visionary, and his legacy is one of immeasurable impact.

On a personal note, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know Dr. Gregorian over the years and to draw on his remarkable kindness, experience and depth of knowledge. I will deeply miss his passion and his friendship.
