Ja'Nale Bennet

Westinghouse High School

Dr. Henry Piehler, Materials Science and Engineering

My name is Ja'Nale Bennett. I am a senior at George Westinghouse High School and I am in the Science and Math Program (SAM) with a GPA of 3.6. I am a member of the National Honors Society, a captain of the Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team and Track Team, and a teen mentor. My goals are to gradute from high school with an academic scholarship, attend Florida A&M University, and major in psychology. After I graduate college, I would like to become a clinical psychologist because I like to help people solve their problems. In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, volleyball and football, and bowling. I also enjoy shopping, eating, going to the movies, rapping, and lending a helping hand.

The last couple of weeks here at CMU have been okay, as long as I keep busy. I am continuing a project that I have been working on at school as my independent research. This project involves testing the compression strength of concrete when flyash is added to it. By the end of the summer I wish to have my paper written for the Westinghouse Scince Talent Search (a national competition) and PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science).
