Tanya Kaminsky

Taylor Allderdice High School

Susan Graul, Chemistry

My name is Tanya Kaminsky and I am currently a serior at Allderdice. This summer I've been working mostly with ab initio calculations to find the reaction pathway of H2 loss from the dimethylsilyl cation. After reading textbooks on general chemistry and organic chemistry I think I will be majoring in chemistry. During the school year I devote lots of time to my youth group and a number of community service projects. I am not yet decided on where I want to go to college, but it will probably be somewhere other than Pittsburgh. One of the best things about the internship is that we [the students] can hang out with grad students and see what graduate school is all about. They teach us tons of useful things, for example, to appreciate free food :) Another good thing about the program is our email accounts. My mailbox is never empty.
