We are excited to announce that we will be offering classes in-person and online through Zoom for the Summer 2025 term! Registration is NOT OPEN for the Summer 2025 term!

Please note: The Summer 2025 Course Catalog will only be published on-line.

Important information:

How can I prepare for registration?

There are two steps to prepare for registration:

  1. Make sure you have your username/password. If you do not have those, email osher@cmu.edu and we can reply with your username and steps to create a new password.
  2. Write down a list of courses you'd like to take. Keep track of the ID's and Titles of courses you'd like to take. This will allow you to quickly search for courses.

I have a friend who is not a member. Can they take Osher at CMU courses in the Summer term?

Yes! Members can refer a friend to Osher at CMU and allow them to join them for a class with a one-time guest pass. As an incentive, "friends" will be invited for membership once they've attended the class with a member. They will not have to wait on the waitlist at this time. Membership will be $100, and then $60 to register.

If they decide to not come as a "friend," but decide join the waitlist for membership, they will be able to register for courses as a Prospect two weeks before the term begins for a Prospect registration fee of $95.

Registration Information

How will registration work?

When registration opens, an email notice will go to Osher at CMU members announcing that they can register for courses! If you are not a 2025 member,  you will not be able to register right away. Prospective members will be able to register two weeks before the term starts for courses that have open seats.

Please note: If you do not receive/have unsubscribed from our Weekly Essentials Emails, you will not get this email. The notice goes out through the same system. Please contact the Osher staff for help.

Is Registration Open Now?

No, registration is NOT open for Summer 2025! We expect it to open early April.

Registration Fees

The registration fee is $60.00 for Members and $95 for Prospects. This fee allows you to take an unlimited number of courses. Some courses have an additional fee.

If I signed up for Zoom courses, when will I recieve the meeting ID and password for each course?

Zoom codes will be sent with your 7-day reminders! Please make sure you hold onto those emails. If your register within 7 days of your course beginning, you'll receive the codes in your confirmation emails.

Materials Fee

Materials fees are due at the time of registration unless otherwise stated. Where indicated, materials fees are non-refundable. Should you not be admitted to a course, your prepaid fee will be made into an electronic voucher (credit).

Confirmation Emails

As you are registered, a "confirmation of class registration" will be automatically emailed to you for each course you are enrolled in. Should a course not be listed, it means that you are on the waiting list for which you will receive a waitlist email. You will be notified via email if and when you are enrolled in a waitlisted class. Please do not attend any classes for which you do not have a confirmation.

Adding and Dropping Courses

To add a course(s) after registering, please either go online to do so, or email the office at osher@cmu.edu. If you want to drop a course, complete the form at cmu.edu/osher, Quick Links, click on "Drop my Course" button. This is especially important to do early for courses with a waiting list so another member can attend.

IMPORTANT: You must receive a course confirmation in order to attend a course. A course confirmation is not the same as a waiting list notice.

Waiting Lists

We cannot stress this enough: ALWAYS go on the waitlist! If courses are popular, we ask the Study Leader if they'd be willing to add more seats or a second course offering. If we don't know the popularity of a course, we cannot take the steps to attempt to get more people in the course.

P.S.: Don't forget to drop courses you can no longer attend!

As you look through the catalog and pick out your courses, you may overschedule yourself with too many obligations. Be sure you drop a course if you find cannot attend 75% of the classes. This will allow the office to alleviate course waiting lists by filling seats.
