MCS Graduate Student Conference Funding Award Winners Announced

Five winners have received the Mellon College of Science Graduate Student Funding Award for summer conferences.

Created to help graduate students attend conferences and workshops that will further their research, Associate Dean for Faculty and Graduate Affairs Dejan Slepčev and Director of MCS Graduate Affairs Gwen Stanczak announced the summer recipients.

This round's winners include the following students and the meetings they plan to attend:

  • Bailey Smith, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department Biological Sciences — Streptococcal Biology Gordon Research Conference
  • Jenna De Vivo, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry — The European Aerosol Conference 2024
  • Zeyu Zheng a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mathematical Sciences — Summit280 Conference
  • Chehak Arora, a master's student in the MCS MS-DAS Program — Grace Hopper Conference
  • Zachary Baldwin a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Physics — 10th International Conference on Quarks and Nuclear Physics

The award offers students up to $500 in supplemental funding for travel, prioritizing applicants who have secured other sources of funding.

Graduate students are encouraged to apply to future rounds of the Graduate Student Conference Funding Award. Applications for conferences taking place in October, November and December 2024 will be accepted until Sept. 15, 2024.
