Did you know? CMU has nine University Exchange programs. There are nine university wide exchange programs, and some departments even have their own departmental exchange.

Interested in applying? Submit an application on the Study Abroad Portal! The deadline to apply for University Exchange programs for fall 2024/AY 24-25 is on March 1. University exchange programs also have unique funding opportunities and the ability to apply your CMU financial aid towards the program. You can learn more about your options by making an appointment with a study abroad advisor.

External and Sponsored Programs

Tartans, your potential is limitless, and so are your options for studying abroad! You can study abroad at any one of hundreds of universities or study abroad programs, as long as courses are approved for credit transfer back to CMU.

One of the perks you can take advantage of as a Tartan is that if you receive CMU financial aid, you can apply it to the cost of any program on the Sponsored Programs List for a semester or academic year abroad. Anyone can apply to these programs, regardless of if they are receiving financial aid. Interested? You can apply directly to these programs and then just fill out the sponsored student forms with the CMU study abroad office.
