Get Ready for Summer Travel

This summer, over 200 Tartans will study abroad! With summer programs that focus on class work, doing research, professional networking or service projects, it will be a fun-filled summer semester!

We have students heading out on a wide range of programs studying art, design, and producing in cities across Europe. Some will pursue sustainability initiatives in Costa Rica and Denmark, and biodiversity and conservation in Bali and Borneo! While others will work to combat human trafficking and champion human rights in Amsterdam.

Engineering students will be heading to Portugal in May with Real World Experience (RWE) Portugal and heading to Zimbabwe with the student group Engineers Without Borders. Juntos is heading to the Dominican Republic, and CMU's Department of Languages, Cultures, & Applied Linguistics has programs running in six different countries! We had over 40 students apply for Tartans Abroad summer study abroad funding, and we're thrilled to see students heading out to all corners of the world this summer.

Have so much fun, and we can't wait to hear all about your summer wherever your adventures take you! Remember to tag us in your Instagram photos if you'd like to be featured on our social media.

Andy Wu, a Master of Information Systems Management student, spent the last semester abroad studying at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien - Vienna University of Economics and Business. We caught up with Andy about this university exchange experience:

What was your favorite class abroad?
Doing Business in Africa - the Next Frontier

What was your favorite thing you did outside of the classroom?
Skiing in the Austrian Alps at Zell am See for a weekend and visiting Africa (Morocco) for the first time!

Any travel tips or advice for Tartans thinking of studying abroad?
When deciding on the location, also consider its centrality. Since Vienna is situated in the heart of Europe, I was able to travel conveniently every weekend, ultimately visiting 16 countries by the end of the semester.
