Celebrating the Accomplishments of Nobel Laureate Thomas Sargent

Thomas Sargent, William R. Berkley Professor of Economics and Business, NYU Stern School of Business, is was awarded the 2011 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences alongside Christopher Sims for their research on cause and effect in macroeconomics. His work on rational expectations and economic policy has significantly shaped modern economic thought, particularly in understanding how policy decisions influence economic outcomes. Sargent is a former Research Affiliate for the Tepper School.
"I am humbled to be recognized by the Tepper School and be part of a storied legacy of other respected researchers who have won the Nobel Prize in Economics,” Sargent said. “The year I spent at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon) changed my life in so many ways.”
