September 19, 2024 - 12:30pm

Alumni Concert Hall, College of Fine Arts

Please come and join Dr. Alexa Woloshyn’s World Music class to learn about geisha music and dance with Dr. Yuko Eguchi.

Dr. Eguchi holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Pittsburgh where her dissertation on geisha arts focused on how the concept of iroke (sensuality or eroticism) manifests in geisha music and dance. She performs kouta (geisha music accompanied by shamisen) and koutaburi (geisha dance).

This event is sponsored by the Center for the Arts in Society.
