Millennium Symphony Orchestra

Millennium Symphony Orchestra for High School Instrumentalists & Conductors

The Millennium Symphony Orchestra trains the next generation of orchestra musicians. Our students experience life at a top-level music conservatory and take their playing to the next level and hone audition skills through individual instruction, ensemble performance, and master classes.

  • Perform masterworks in the Millenium Symphony Orchestra (MSO) under the direction of resident conductor Maestro Daniel Nesta Curtis.

  • Study in weekly lessons with MSO faculty.

  • Attend “Mastering the Art of the Audition,” a weekly seminar focused on preparing audition material and honing audition skills.

  • Perform chamber music with other talented instrumentalists, coached by internationally acclaimed collaborative pianist and chamber music expert Prof. Luz Manriquez.

  • Prepare for college life at music school with the complete course offerings of the CMU Music Pre-College including music theory, solfѐge, and Dalcroze eurhythmics. Gain a competitive edge for auditions.

  • Observe rehearsals and attend performances by world-renowned Pittsburgh based ensembles.

We accept a limited number of Conducting Scholars, who study closely with Maestro Curtis and receive podium time with the ensembles.

Scholarships of up to $2000 are available to members of accepted fully-formed chamber groups.

The MSO is hosted as a part of the CMU Music Pre-College experience. Click here for application instructions.
