Planning Information for Faculty
Congratulations to all of your students graduating in this year, and thank you for your help getting them there. Share in their pride and celebrate commencement with them this year, May 9-11, 2025!
Before commencement weekend, review our planning checklist:

1. Cap & Gown Pick Up and Return
Faculty who are participating must wear academic regalia during the main commencement ceremonies and diploma ceremonies. Find more information on how to order your regalia on the Cap and Gown page. Faculty regalia distribution and returns will take place at the University Store.

- Monday, May 5-Thursday, May 15: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
2. Review the Schedule
Visit the Schedule page to review the weekend schedule.
3. Confirm Your Diploma Ceremony Location
Visit the Diploma Ceremonies page to review the schedule and confirm your ceremony location. Ceremony times and locations are subject to change, so check the schedule frequently.
4. Find Your Robing and Processional Location
All faculty members participating in the main commencement ceremony should report to the new location in Danforth Lounge in the Cohon University Center. You will process as a group toward Gesling Stadium and into special seating sections on the field.
Procession of Graduates
Before the main commencement ceremony, graduates will meet at specific locations across campus and process in groups to Gesling Stadium. Once they reach they stadium, they will process into reserved seating sections on the field.
Meeting locations are determined by a graduate's college or program. Visit the Graduates Planning page to find robing and processional locations for graduates.
5. Faculty and Staff Parking Information
In order to accommodate the many guests coming to campus for Commencement, the following adjustments will be made to parking for faculty and staff during the weekend. Please plan accordingly.
Parking Information by Day
Friday, May 9
Faculty and staff with parking permits will have access to their regular lots. East Campus Garage will be accepting guest/visitor parking as available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Saturday, May 10
Faculty and staff with parking permits will have access to their regular lots. Faculty and staff who do not have a parking pass should park in either Fairfax lot or at Central Catholic High School (no parking fees will apply for you at those lots).
Sunday, May 11
All faculty and staff (including those that have permit parking) are asked to park in either Fairfax lot or at Central Catholic High School. No parking fees will apply for you at those lots. All other campus lots are reserved for commencement guests with prepaid parking. If you have any concerns, please contact Transportation Services at 412-268-2052.
Please also note that streets closest to campus will be closed to all vehicular traffic on Sunday, May 11, from 7:30 to 11 a.m., including restrictions at the following intersections:
- Craig Street and Forbes Avenue
- Morewood Avenue and Fifth Avenue
- Beeler Street and Forbes Avenue
Only those with a prepaid QR code will be permitted to drive within the restricted campus area.
