How long have you been at CMU and how did you get here?

I started at CMU in March 2021. Previously, I was an academic advisor at California Institute of the Arts and a program coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania. Before I began my career in higher education I was employed as a horse groom, a produce clerk, a cupcake icer, and an assistant to a floral designer.

What is something you love about your job and/or what is one of your favorite memories of being an advisor?

I love to help students grasp hold of their education, and I love stories. Each student has their own unique path through college and I'm here to listen to what that journey means to them. I try to use their stories to inform my professional and personal perspective and to make positive change as an advisor.

What activities/hobbies do you like to do outside of work and/or what do you like to do to de-stress or unwind after a busy day?

Exploring Pittsburgh on my bicycle is one of my favorite activities. Other hobbies include watching baseball, trying to finish New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles, and enjoying meatless meals.

What is a recommendation for a fun thing you like doing in Pittsburgh?

Check out one of Pittsburgh’s historic cemeteries, like Allegheny Cemetery in Lawrenceville!
