Our Story
The University Communications & Marketing division was created in 2015. Though many individuals and entities have told the university's story over more than a century, the division provides a home, hub and strategic engine for this important work. We are a team of strategic thinkers, creative problem solvers and subject experts from a variety of professional backgrounds — all with the goal of deepening CMU's reputation and enhancing the CMU experience.

The University Communications & Marketing (UCM) division at Carnegie Mellon is dedicated to providing strategic direction and expertise to raise the university's global visibility and enhance communications within the university community.

Our process
From planning CMU's annual commencement ceremony to publicizing a major research initiative to creating a new design for university publications, UCM employs best practices from higher education and industry to drive toward the best outcome. After outlining the project's key goals and objectives, we develop a comprehensive plan, gather resources and ideas, and execute at the highest level.

Our space
As the voice of the CMU brand, it's important that we feel the pulse of campus activity.
We are located on campus with university leadership and most of our staff is located at 4721 Fifth Avenue.
