'Tis the Season Holiday Party

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 4:30 p.m., join your fellow Tartans to kick off the holiday season in Schatz with all your favorite winter meals, treats, and music. Take pictures with winter props and tag dinging services on Instagram for the chance to be featured! Learn more about this event.

Loving the Teaching Kitchen series this semester? Catch the last one for the fall semester in the Tepper Atrium on Friday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m.! Stop by, grab a cookie to decorate for yourself, or give one to a friend to help spread the holiday spirit. Make sure you arrive early as supplies run out fast. This event is open to undergrad students, grad students, staff, and faculty — bring your friends! Learn more about this event.

Paws to Relax: Pet Therapy

The end of the semester can be stressful, so take a moment to relax with some furry friends! Join the Mindfulness Room's team for a relaxing session with certified pet therapy dogs in the Mindfulness Room (First Floor, West Wing Hall, 5125 Margaret Morrison St). This weekly event runs every Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and brings in 1-4 volunteers and certified therapy dogs to help Tartans de-stress and relax throughout the semester. Learn more about the program.

Imani Winds

On Monday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m., check out Grammy-nominated quintet Imani Winds. This group, praised for their "hot rapport" and "conviction," is closing out their one-year residency with Chamber Music Pittsburgh with a culminating performance dedicated to works by Black and Brown composers. Tickets should be purchased in advance.

Handmade Arcade Holiday Market 2022

Gifts as unique as your friends! On Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., shop one-of-a-kind handmade products from 250+ talented makers at the largest holiday market in the region! Come to be inspired, and leave with distinctive handcrafted products you won't find anywhere else. From sustainable clothing and accessories to one-of-a-kind art, innovative home decor, and much more. Bring your whole crew for shopping, hands-on crafts, and breathtaking live demonstrations. Free, timed ticket registration is required for this event.

The Black Market: Holiday Edition

Looking to support local small businesses? On select weekends in December, check out this pop-up market. It supports and showcases Black-owned businesses from around the region and is a buzzing destination Downtown during the holiday season. Learn more about the event.

Nationality and Intercultural Exchange Programs Holiday Open House

Check out holiday traditions from around the world, all without leaving Oakland! On Sunday, Dec. 4, from 12 to 4 p.m., check out an Oakland tradition that fosters connections among neighbors. Members of the Nationality and Heritage Room Committees will welcome guests into the Cathedral of Learning for an afternoon of exploration and engagement. Guests can explore the Nationality and Heritage Rooms, which will be decorated for the holiday season. You can participate in traditional crafts and cultural demonstrations to learn about the rooms, the committees, and their ethnic communities and traditions. Enjoy traditional foods and baked goods as you listen to holiday music from around the world, and shop for handcrafted items that represent the cultural diversity of the Nationality and Heritage Rooms. The Wanderers

On select dates from now through Dec. 18, check out City Theatre's production of The Wanderers. This production focuses on Orthodox Jews Esther and Schmuli, who have newly entered an arranged marriage. At the same time, Author Abe has entered a secret flirtatious correspondence with movie star Julia without their spouses' knowledge. Swiveling between the 1970s and present day, The Wanderers is a mysterious new drama that puts a magnifying glass on the complications of love across generations and what it means to be happy. Tickets can be purchased in advance.
