Daylight Savings Time Ends

Daylight savings time ends this weekend! On Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 a.m., clocks will fall back by one hour, meaning that 2 a.m. becomes 1 a.m. You'll get an hour of extra sleep between Saturday and Sunday! Most cell phones and computers will automatically account for the time change, but not every device will, so be sure to set your clocks back before going to sleep on Saturday night. You can learn more about the history of Daylight Savings Time and why it exists in the US.

Multicultural Community Potluck

Food brings us together and showcases our cultures! Join the Center for a Multicultural Community Potluck on Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in McKenna/Peter at the CUC. Learn more and register.

IGSA Diwali Dhamaka

On Sunday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m., join the Indian Graduate Student Association to celebrate Diwali the Tartan way! Enjoy good food, music, dancing and friends at this year's celebration. Learn more and register in advance.

Civic Engagement Student Summit

Calling all future leaders! On Sunday, Nov. 6, from 1 to 5 p.m., join the inaugural Civic Engagement Student Summit hosted by the Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement. The event is free and open to all students, graduate and undergraduate. Refreshments will be provided. The first 20 registrations receive a free water bottle, and all participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of five Kindle copies of Asi Burak's text "Power Play: How Video Games can Save the World" (must be present to win). Please register in advance.

Tried & True: Asian-Made Short Films

It's shorts season! On Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m., check out a special night of short films by Asian filmmakers followed by a keynote presentation from Milky Tran. The first 50 people to arrive will get free boba! Please register in advance.

Slovak Heritage Festival

On Sunday, Nov. 6, from 12 to 4 p.m., check out the 32nd Annual Slovak Heritage Festival in the Commons Room of the Cathedral of Learning on the University of Pittsburgh campus in Oakland. This festival features Slovak culture, history, food, crafts, and education. Admission is free, and all are welcome. Learn more about the event.

Three Rivers Film Festival

The oldest and largest film festival in the region returns! Beginning Nov. 10 to 17, the Three Rivers Film Festival will showcase a curated slate of 25–30 independent feature films in various genres, including dramas, comedies, and documentaries. In addition to film screenings, there are Q&As with cast and crew, receptions, and other fun. Learn more about the films and how to purchase tickets.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., check out A Dramatic Collage: a staged reading showcasing queer life. The event will feature pieces by and about the queer community as a celebration of queer life and queer joy. Want to support, but feel like staying in? Don't worry, you can check out the live streams of the reading on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and the Dreams of Hope website! ASL interpretation will also be provided by SLIP. Learn more and register.
