September is in full swing! This week is jam-packed with events and celbrations across campus and the city. Whether you are looking for homemade food from one of the great cultural festivals or want to check out what local artists are creating, there is something for everyone this weekend. On-Campus Employment

Working on campus can be a rewarding experience! On Friday, Sept. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m., join OIE and the Career & Professional Development Center (CPDC) for an employment info session for F-1/J-1 students. All new international students are invited to join this presentation to learn the basics of employment authorization. Register for the event on Handshake.

Paws to Relax: Pet Therapy

The start of a new semester can be stressful; take a moment to relax with some furry friends! Join the Mindfulness Room's team for a relaxing session with certified pet therapy dogs in the Mindfulness Room (First Floor, West Wing Hall, 5125 Margaret Morrison St). This weekly event runs every Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and brings in 1-4 volunteers and certified therapy dogs to help Tartans de-stress and relax throughout the semester. Plus, as a special edition, join the Mindfulness team for Paws to Relax: Bunny Addition on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Learn more about the program.

Moon Festivals

This weekend autumn moon festivals are celebrated across several cultures. These festivals include the Mid-Autumn Festival, Chuseok, Tết Trung Thu, and Tsukimi. Looking for a way to celebrate in Pittsburgh? Consider the Asian Lantern Festival hosted by the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium! Explore the Zoo at night among giant luminous handcrafted sculptures, and learn about Asian history, culture and enjoy themed food and entertainment. You can purchase tickets in advance, and we wish everyone a happy and peaceful celebration.

Fair in the Park

Pittsburgh is a city of art! Join Pittsburgh's art guild for this annual contemporary fine art and fine craft festival from Sept. 9-11. A Fair in the Park is held in the lush surroundings of Pittsburgh's Mellon Park. This event features dozens of regional and national artists working in various mediums, including clay, fiber, wood, jewelry, glass, leather, metal, mixed media and two-dimensional art. Learn more about the event and artists.

Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day

Pittsburgh has strong Irish roots that we celebrate all year long, but nothing is quite like the Halfway to St. Patrick's Day Festival. From Sept. 9-11, celebrate the Irish experience in America. This festival showcases the beauty of Irish dance, music, and literature with performances and events featuring traditional weavers, Irish historians, lace makers, storytellers, Gaelic symbol drawing, and harp and whistle demonstrations, and the Children's Area. Bike to Campus Week

Bike to Campus Week Sept 12-16

It's back! BikePGH and CMU are teaming up for Bike to Campus Week. From Sept. 12-16, join BikePGH for a selection of in-person and virtual events all about the joys of biking in Pittsburgh. Whether you want to learn about choosing a new bike, participate in a gear swap, or learn how to safely bike around campus and the city, this week has something for everyone! Learn more about the event.

Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival

Pierogi party! Head to Kennywood on Friday, Sept. 9, from 4:30 to 9 p.m., for the ultimate in hometown Pittsburgh food and fun! This year's festival will feature our city's favorite food from over two dozen restaurants, chefs, and pierogi purveyors who will serve up hot and delicious pierogies, creative pierogi-inspired dishes, dessert pierogies, and more! As part of the festival, you can also get special access to some classic Kennywood rides. The party features live music, open beer gardens for guests 21+ with a valid ID, and select Kennywood games. Learn more about the event and purchase tickets.

Pittsburgh Lebanese Festival

Pittsburgh Taco Festival

Tacos in the ‘Burgh! On Saturday, Sept. 10, from 12:30 to 7 p.m., check out Pittsburgh’s Taco Festival. This event features dozens of local taco restaurants and food trucks, as well as live entertainment and music. Tacos may be purchased at individual vendors and are not included in the entry fee. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance!
