On-Campus Employment

Working on campus can be a rewarding experience! On Friday, Sept. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m., join OIE and the Career & Professional Development Center (CPDC) for an employment info session for F-1/J-1 students. All new international students are invited to join this presentation to learn the basics of employment authorization. Register for the event on Handshake.

Industry Insights with CMU Alumni

Tartans are a wealth of knowledge, and they are back to help! On Monday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., tap into the knowledge of your fellow Tartans working in your future field. Gain insight into current trends in your chosen industry. Ask questions to prepare for your next job. Join CMU alumni in 50-minute, small group Zoom meetings to hear real-life work experiences in your chosen industry. Learn more about this virtual event.

Service Saturdays - Grounded Strategies

Give back to the local community! Every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can participate in Service Saturdays and volunteer with PACE. This week help beautify a community garden and support the work of Grounded Strategies. Learn more and register here.

University Lecture Series: Mariela Shaker

Syrian refugee and accomplished violinist Mariela Shaker performs Meditation Thais by Jules Massenet with Syrian British pianist Riyad Nicolas

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 5 p.m., head to McConomy Auditorium for another installment of the University Lecture Series. This week’s presentation features a performance and lecture by violinist and refugee advocate Mariela Shaker. Learn more about the Lecture Series and register in advance.

Rusalka: Opera's Little Mermaid

Calling all Opera lovers! From Sept. 17-25, head to the Pittsburgh Opera House for Rusalka, the Czech version of The Little Mermaid. Rusalka has become one of the most beloved lyric fairy tales of all time, turning a familiar story into something wholly its own. You can purchase tickets in advance.

Three Stooges Festival

Classic comedy is back on the big screen! The Three Stooges are an iconic American comedy trio. On Saturday, Sept. 17, they're back in a black and white short film festival. Head to the Harris Theater for a laugh-filled evening as Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp unleash their special brand of mayhem in six of their best shorts. Hosted by Pittsburgh Magazine's Sean Collier, there will be trivia and prizes. Learn more about the event and purchase tickets in advance.

Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

Jazz is back in the 'Burgh! From Sept. 16-18, check out the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival. This three-day celebration features live music at various downtown locations. Pittsburgh's rich jazz history makes it a huge party you won't want to miss! All attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination, and masks are mandatory for all festivalgoers, regardless of vaccination status. Tickets should be purchased in advance.

Pittsburgh Urban Farm Tour

Urban farming is all around us! On Saturday, Sept. 17, check out various urban farms across the city in this self-guided tour.
