2022 Tax Filing Deadline & Resources

It’s tax filing season in the U.S.! Most international students and scholars, as well as their dependents, living in the U.S. are required to file a tax form. Tax forms for 2022 are due Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

The OIE team realizes that U.S. tax laws can be very complex and confusing, so we have put together helpful information and resources to assist with the tax return process, including who is required to file which forms, how to file, where to go for assistance.

All international students and scholars currently on CMU documents will receive an email from OIE with information about filing 2022 taxes. The email contains details about how to access GLACIER Tax Prep and Sprintax, which are tax preparation software. OIE covers the cost of access to GLACIER Tax Prep software for federal filing. The cost of Sprintax, used for state tax filing, will need to be covered by individual students and scholars. The access passwords included in the email are exclusively for CMU community members and licenses are limited.
