The Tepper School of Business hosted the inaugural Management Game Reception in Simmons Auditorium to honor Tepper seniors in the Advanced Capstone Strategy course on April 22. Led by Dr. Rima Bhattacharyay, full-time Strategy faculty member and instructor of the undergraduate Management Game, the event recognized the strategic leadership, collaboration, and performance of Tepper students and their alumni board members.

The evening began with remarks from Senior Associate Dean for Education, Laurence Ales who reflected on the legacy and long-standing impact of the Management Game. Bhattacharyay followed with a welcome message that underscored the importance of teamwork, communication and applied learning.

The Management Game, first introduced in 1958, is a cornerstone of the Tepper undergraduate experience and one of the school’s most established forms of experiential learning. Students are tasked with managing simulated multinational corporations and working closely with alumni board members to navigate real-world business challenges, including global expansion, market dynamics, financial performance, labor negotiations, and operational decision-making.

"Management Game is central to our educational platform in the Tepper School undergraduate experience,” said Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, Oliver Hahl. “It’s where we get to enact all those management science skills that we’ve been working on. It’s a great example of what sets the Tepper School experience apart.”

Assistant Dean of Education, Jennifer Wegner, joined Bhattacharyay to present the Management Game Championship trophy, award certificates and medals to the winning student teams and outstanding board members. First and second runners-up were also acknowledged with certificates of recognition.

“Management Game simulation was easily one of my favorite experiences at Tepper,” said Angelica Gonzalez, Class of 2025. “While I’ve worked on plenty of group projects before, this one stood out because I had the chance to build my own team and lead from start to finish. It was such a powerful moment to see my leadership come to life in a setting that felt both high-stakes and deeply collaborative.”

To close the event, Dr. Bhattacharyay and Laura Herr, Senior Director for Development and Alumni Engagement, offered concluding remarks before a lively meet-and-greet session between students and alumni board members.

The Management Game Championships and Reception is envisioned to become an annual tradition, reinforcing the Tepper School's commitment to hands-on, strategic business education.
