Human Rights, Law, and Advocacy

Are you passionate about social justice and ensuring basic human rights for all? Considering law school? Thinking about a career as a public defender or private sector attorney? An internship with a human rights, law, or advocacy group might be a great fit.

The organizations below conduct advocacy on a variety of issues. Interns can expect to assist with research and dissemination of publications, communication and advocacy campaigns, social media account management, and event planning. Interns with these organizations also have the chance to attend conferences, briefings, and events on topics of interest. Undergraduate interns at legal organizations can expect to assist with drafting documents and doing background research.

If you’re interested in working on these issues from a research or policy-making lens, you should also consider an internship with a think tank.  If you’re interested in environmental advocacy, you should check out the conservation and climate tab.
