TartanConnect is Carnegie Mellon University’s online engagement platform or “one-stop shop” to connect current students, staff/faculty, and associated community members through student organizations and campus offices.

First-Semester Students

Welcome to CMU! Enrolled first-semester students (CMU-Pittsburgh campus) will automatically receive TartanConnect accounts beginning July 1 for those with a fall semester start and January 1 for those with a spring semester start) All accounts are created using your Andrew ID.

Recently Graduated Students

Students who have recently graduated (spring or fall semester) will have their TartanConnect accounts deactivated in July. Notifications of the deactivation will be emailed from TartanConnect. The deactivation of a TartanConnect account is not related the status of your Andrew ID.

Graduated students who were officers of student organizations should update their group’s officers as soon as possible with the new leadership to support a smooth leadership transition.

All current undergraduate and graduate students can explore and connect with student organizations, offices, events, and other students on TartanConnect.

Staff & Faculty

CMU staff and faculty can leverage TartanConnect as an individual user and as a campus office through the Groups feature. They automatically have an account created with their Andrew ID when logging into the platform for the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Accepted students may view student organizations and some events by clicking “Groups” or “Events” at the top of the login page. Admitted and committed students will automatically receive a TartanConnect account based on their Andrew ID in July and/or January based on their enrollment date.

All graduate students have accounts created for them in TartanConnect in order to connect with student-government recognized organizations, which are open to all students. Tepper graduate students have a separate Hub in TartanConnect that is specific to organizations that are exclusively for graduate students in their programs. You can filter on this category in the Groups or Events page as well.

Heinz students have a separate platform, also powered by CampusGroups, where Heinz-only events and student organizations are housed.

Alumni and/or community members actively engaged with CMU should contact us. Share your first and last name, association with CMU, and reason for the request to join the platform. A representative will respond via email as soon as possible with guidance.

TartanConnect accounts are created for current CMU students, staff, faculty, associated alumni, and associated community members. Family members are welcome to view a current list of student organizations by clicking “Groups” at the top of the login page.
