This fall, Linda Schmidt will bid farewell to Carnegie Mellon after an impressive 42 years of service. Starting in the Equal Opportunity Services office, she progressed through roles that focused on data and technology, culminating in her current position as the director of HR technology and data services.

Her success at CMU can be attributed to her strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as her ability to collaborate effectively with diverse campus partners. Linda played a pivotal role in successfully implementing accounting, human resources, financial, and student accounts systems. She has actively led efforts to enhance and streamline business processes, ensuring better service for campus clients.

Linda's advice for new employees? Seek out mentors to support your career growth! She personally benefited from several mentors throughout her career, who guided and encouraged her professional development at CMU.

A strong mentor herself, Linda instilled a culture of delivering high-impact HR solutions through her leadership of HR technology and integration architects and data analytics functions. Her guidance of virtual, cross-functional HR teams has been instrumental in achieving successful outcomes. HR's achievements are a testament to her leadership.
