CSL Project Course
Interdisciplinary graduate student teams explore and define new opportunities with companies looking to create transformative growth
Have an idea you want to explore? Want a fresh perspective to examine how it could be transformative for your company? Join a cohort of peer companies and work with Carnegie Mellon University graduate students to investigate what’s possible over the course of a semester.
STUDENT TEAMS AS CORPORATE ENTREPRENEURS
The graduate teams, recruited from all CMU Colleges, conduct background research, talk to potential customers, run lean tests or experiments, and iterate on a product or service until they a) find an identifiable market and business model that could work or b) demonstrate conclusively that the idea should not be pursued as a venture.
Goal: Students teams work with Corporate Sponsors to explore an idea that could be transformative for their company, utilizing their interdisciplinary talent and CSL resources
Now offered during Fall Semester ‘24
RECRUITING NOW - ENROLLMENT TIMELINE
CMU and Pitt Graduate students can register for the waitlist now.
Once on the waitlist, the CSL Team will contact you to complete a brief application that will aid in team building. You must complete the application before the interview. Please note, not all students are accepted into the project course.
Why do students have to interview? All students who apply are interviewed to fill the limited spots in the course. CSL strives to provide students and corporations with best possible experience during the semester. While we take into account past industry experience, there is value to working on a project outside of your realm as our clients range from healthcare to fintech; from retail to construction.
When considering the project course, students need to be comfortable getting their arms around new markets, new business models, and new opportunities.
