Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a secure connection, or tunnel, to the CMU network over the internet. A VPN connection will allow you to:
- access on-campus resources from off-campus, including campus printers, library resources and network shared drives
- transfer data securely from off-campus
- work securely over public Wi-Fi
- access a service on a restricted subnet

AnyConnect Becomes Secure Client
Cisco is updating the name of its VPN application from AnyConnect to Secure Client. If you have the application installed already, it will update the next time you connect. After the update, desktop shortcuts and other shortcuts to the application may disappear.
