Eduroam
The eduroam service provides free wireless access at education and research institutions world-wide. Using your Carnegie Mellon Andrew email address and password you can connect to the wireless network at a participating institution. Those visiting Carnegie Mellon from a member institution can access our wireless eduroam network using their university email address and password. Eduroam uses secure encryption and authentication standards, which make it significantly safer than commercial Wi-Fi hotspots. To connect, follow the appropriate steps below.
Note: Eduroam login requires your complete email address, andrewuserID@andrew.cmu.edu, and Andrew password, regardless of the device or operating system.
Windows
- Locate eduroam in your Wi-Fi list.
- Click Connect.
- If prompted, enter your andrewuserID@andrew.cmu.edu email address and Andrew password, then click OK.
- If prompted with a "Security Alert", click Details.
- Verify the certificate.
- Click Connect.

Mac
- Click the Apple menu (top-left) and click System Settings.
- Select Network, then click Wi-Fi.
- Click to enable the Wi-Fi slider if it isn't enabled already.
- Select eduroam in the Network Name list.
- If prompted, enter your andrewuserID@andrew.cmu.edu email address and Andrew password, then click OK.
Linux
- Find eduroam in your Wi-Fi list.
- Enter the following information (terminology may vary; your computer may not require all these settings):
- Wireless security: WPA2 Enterprise
- Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- CA certificate: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority (See step 3 for details.)
- PEAP Version: Automatic or Version 0
- Inner/Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Username: andrewuserID@andrew.cmu.edu email address
- Password: Andrew password
- Do one of the following:
- If prompted, verify and accept the offered certificate.
- If not prompted, manually download and install the certificate from the COMODO website.
iOS and visionOS
- Locate your wireless configuration settings.
- Find eduroam in your Wi-Fi list.
- Enter the following information.
Username: andrewuserID@andrew.cmu.edu email address
Password: Andrew password - If prompted, verify and accept the offered certificate.
Android
- Locate your wireless configuration settings.
- Find eduroam in your Wi-Fi list.
- Enter the following information.
Note: Terminology may vary across devices. Contact your vendor for terminology specific to your device.
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA certificate: Use System Certificate
- Domain: wireless.cmu.edu
- User certificate: Unspecified
- Identity: andrewuserID@andrew.cmu.edu email address
- Password: Andrew password
- If prompted, verify and accept the offered certificate.
Note: You may not be able to select a wireless certificate on some Android devices, but you will be connected to eduroam after you compete Steps 1-3.
Other Devices
- Locate your wireless configuration settings.
- Find eduroam in your Wi-Fi list.
- Enter your Andrew userID and password and authenticate with DUO if prompted.
- If prompted, enter any of the following information as required by your device:
- Wireless security: WPA2 Enterprise
- Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- CA certificate: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority or Unspecified
- User certificate: Unspecified
- Inner/Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
- If prompted, verify and accept the offered certificate.
